Woman VS Kitchen: Roz Bil Shaareyyah (Egyptian-Style Rice with Vermicelli)

Inspired by last week’s successful culinary experiment, I have decided to post my simplified recipe for roz bil shaareyyah, an Egyptian-style rice dish with sautéed vermicelli.

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cup of vermicelli

  2. 2 tablespoon of unsalted butter

  3. 2 cups of white rice

  4. 4 cups of water

  5.  1/2 tablespoon of salt

Directions:

  1. Heat a medium-sized pot. Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and spread evenly on the bottom of the pot.

  2. Sautée 1/2 cup of uncooked vermicelli until light to golden brown.

  3. Using the same pot, add 2 cups of white rice and 4 cups of water and stir.

  4. Cover the pot and cook the rice in low heat.

  5. Serve hot.
